Ron Hamilton on Basket Weaving

This video was taken by curator Aaron Glass of the Bard Graduate Center. He conducted a number of conversations with First Nations artists and scholars during the process of developing a 2011 exhibit titled "Objects of Exchange: Social and Material Transformation on the Late Nineteenth Century Northwest Coast". During the interviews, selected objects from the American Museum of Natural History and the show’s historical themes are discussed. The exhibit aimed to "reveal the artistic traces of dynamic Indigenous activity whereby objects were altered, repurposed, and adapted to meet the challenges of the time [colonization]".
